The Catawba Fund + Day of Giving 2023

The Catawba Fund is the lifeblood of the institution. We use these gifts where they are needed most – to the immediate benefit of our students, faculty, and staff. Catawba Fund dollars support each and every Catawba student.

An easy way to support the Catawba Fund is on our annual Day of Giving.

Catawba’s fifth Day of Giving is set for September 29th. Our Day of Giving is a fun and engaging event rallying alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff to make a gift in a specific 24-hour timeline. Gifts can be designated to the Catawba Fund supporting our greatest need, or you can designate your gift to a specific school, program, or athletics. You can also receive a pair of the popular Catawba socks by donating on our Day of Giving.

In prior years, funds raised during the Day of Giving went to support several areas, including athletics with the renovation of the women’s soccer locker room. Funding is also allocated among the deans of the College to support a range of needs and initiatives for their programs and schools.

Last year, professors in Music and Theatre were able to distribute funding to take their students to events, for student travel, faculty development, and to purchase tickets for students to attend concerts, plays, and museums. Faculty in Health Sciences and Human Performance used the funds for five initiatives, including a Low Ropes Course, a school-wide World Cup soccer party in the stadium called Kick-It Catawba, in a partnership with the local Rowan community for the Exercise is Medicine program, a “New Year New You” program that involved nutrition students as consultants with Catawba Athletics and featured incentives for participants, and hosting a Health Sciences and Human Performance professional day, which featured a symposium for over 300 students in the HSHP program, put on by the HSHP faculty and faculty collaborators from other departments. Deans anticipate the funds raised this year will be used by their programs and faculty for a number of areas including student travel and support, faculty development, and toward implementation of initiatives in the campus strategic plan.
