The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Hurley School of Arts and Sciences at Catawba College welcomes applications for Adjunct Teaching Instructors in Chemistry for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. The primary responsibilities of the position include teaching General Chemistry lectures and labs and Analytical Chemistry lectures and labs.
Qualified candidates will have at least 6 hours of graduate-level chemistry classes beyond the Bachelor’s degree. A successful candidate will be strongly committed to teaching and creating an inclusive and diverse learning environment. Candidates who are currently working towards their graduate degree will also be considered.

ABOUT CATAWBA:
Founded in 1851 in Newton, North Carolina, Catawba was started by German pioneers who had traveled from eastern Pennsylvania to settle in the Haw, Yadkin, and Catawba Rivers valleys. In 1890, Catawba became a coeducational institution, and the first woman to graduate completed her studies in 1893. In 1925, Catawba moved and re-opened to its current location in Salisbury, NC, about 45 minutes from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, two hours from the mountains, and four hours from the beaches.

Position Summary
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students by managing an assigned recruitment territory and providing personalized guidance throughout the admissions process. With a strong focus on proactive phone outreach and individualized communication, this position builds meaningful relationships with prospective students and their families to support informed college decision-making and drive enrollment. Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions, this position represents Catawba College through territory management, relationship building, application review, and recruitment activities while contributing to the College's undergraduate enrollment goals.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across Enrollment Management and the campus community, the Admissions Counselor helps create an engaging, student-centered admissions experience from prospect through enrollment.
Key Responsibilities
Territory Management & Recruitment
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory with responsibility for meeting inquiry, application, admit, deposit, and enrollment goals.
- Execute territory travel and recruitment activities while building relationships with prospective students, families, school counselors, and community partners.
- Utilize territory data, recruitment trends, and institutional priorities to inform outreach and recruitment strategies.
- Represent Catawba College professionally through high school visits, college fairs, community events, virtual programming, and other recruitment opportunities.
Student Recruitment & Admissions
- Counsel prospective students and families throughout the admissions process by providing personalized guidance and exceptional customer service.
- Review undergraduate applications using holistic, mission-aligned judgment while maintaining institutional policies and confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate student records and communications within Slate CRM to support recruitment, reporting, and student engagement.
- Execute recruitment and yield initiatives that support institutional enrollment goals.
- Assist prospective and admitted students in navigating the enrollment process and connecting with appropriate campus resources.
- Execute personalized communication plans using phone, email, text messaging, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions.
Campus Engagement & Collaboration
- Lead admissions information sessions and represent the College during campus visit programs, recruitment events, and enrollment initiatives.
- Serve as Counselor of the Day (COD) and support daily admissions office operations, including prospective student inquiries and campus visits.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Operations, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, Athletics, Student Affairs, and other campus partners to support recruitment and enrollment efforts.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing territory insights, recruitment trends, and best practices while supporting departmental initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Experience in undergraduate admissions, higher education, recruitment, sales, or another relationship-focused profession.
- Experience using Slate CRM or another customer relationship management system.
- Experience presenting to groups and facilitating public presentations.
- Experience at a private, tuition-driven, or liberal arts institution.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Day and evening travel required, and job functions are routinely performed outside of the primary office on campus or in off-campus locations. Participation in admissions events in the evenings and on weekends is essential for this position.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Catawba Athletics wins because people show up for the Catawba College Indians — in the stands, on the course and at the plate. The Assistant/Associate Director of Athletic Engagement keeps that community growing. This person leads the Chiefs Club board, builds a membership program donors are proud to belong to, engages athletic alumni with their team and the College, and runs the signature events — First Pitch, the Football Golf Classic, Hall of Fame, and our Conference Championship Reunions.
This position is filled at the Assistant or Associate Director level depending on experience. Associate Director requires five or more years of athletics development, membership, or event-fundraising experience, prior ownership of a volunteer board or committee, and a documented record of hitting event revenue or membership-growth goals. Assistant Director is the entry point for candidates with two to four years of relevant experience who are ready to run events and manage board relationships with senior support.
Chiefs Club Board & Membership
- Serve as the primary staff partner to the Chiefs Club board, setting agendas, running meetings and turning board energy into action.
- Grow and manage the Chiefs Club membership program to raise both dollars and member count year over year.
- Coordinate with the Director of Annual and Leadership giving on solicitation strategy and timeline.
- Recruit, brief and steward board and committee volunteers.
- Track membership performance against goals and report results in terms leadership can act on.
Fundraising and Athletic Alumni Events
- Plan and run First Pitch, the Golf Classic and other Chiefs Club fundraising events from concept through post-event thank-yous.
- Lead Conference Championship Reunions tied to Homecoming Weekend in partnership with coaching staff and Director of Alumni Engagement to bring former Catawba College Indians back to campus.
- Set and hit revenue and attendance goals for each event, and build the budget, timeline, and vendor relationships to get there.
- Coordinate with athletic coaches for alumni days/events.
- Assist with promotion of Women’s Athletic Fundraising event
- Co-Coordinate the football radio show on Thursdays as a visible, weekly touchpoint with fans and donors.
Donor Stewardship
- Keep Chiefs Club donor records current in Raiser's Edge and use the data to personalize outreach and stewardship.
- Organize Chiefs Club members' benefit fulfillment, including but not limited to hospitality events, thank you notes, gifts, and other benefits.
- Execute athletic alumni and Chiefs Club communication as needed.
Be able and willing to assist with other duties as needed.
Requirements:
Assistant Director: Bachelor's degree required; two to four years in athletics development, membership management, event fundraising, sales or a related advancement role.
Associate Director: Bachelor's degree required; five or more years in athletics development, volunteer management, membership management, event fundraising, sales or a related advancement role.
A track record of running fundraising events and volunteer boards that hit their numbers.
- Comfort with donor databases (Raiser's Edge experience a plus) and basic gift and sponsorship reporting.
- A natural connector who is as comfortable on a golf course or at a tailgate as in a board meeting.
- Evening and weekend availability for games and events

Job Purpose
Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks an Assistant Men’s Lacrosse coach who will be responsible for helping to manage all aspects of a competitive and successful NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse program with the primary responsibility being the planning and instruction of Lacrosse skills. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes in the program that leads to graduation through a positive collegiate experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Compliance with NCAA, SAC and Catawba College Policies and Regulations
- The assistant coach must be efficient at individualized and team instruction with emphasis on teaching all skills and strategies associated with the sport.
- Recruiting quality student-athletes that are committed to the Catawba College mission within the allotted scholarship structure and limits
- Coordinate and maintain regular communication with Catawba athletics staff, including the Director of Athletics, Compliance, Sports Medicine, Media Relations, Strength & Conditioning, and Facilities Operations
- Provide academic support and oversight for all student-athletes
- Help with game scheduling
- Practice and game planning and implementation
- Player development and evaluation
- Helping with managing travel (booking hotels, vans, buses, etc.)
- Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
- Day to day program administration
- Preparing film analysis and lacrosse strategies
- Actively assist with program fundraising and development of alumni and community relations
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Successful collegiate coaching experience is preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in on course instruction and knowledge of the sport
- Ability to recruit student-athletes that will be successful in the classroom and on the course
- Ability to lead, mentor and motivate student-athletes
- Strong communication, organizational, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and help manage a competitive men’s lacrosse program are important
- Developing and maintaining positive alumni relations
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required

Position Title: Enrollment Counselor, Graduate and Online Programs

Position Summary
Located on campus and reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management or their designee, and through collaboration with Academic Program Chairs and Directors, the Enrollment Counselor, Online & Graduate Programs recruits, advises, enrolls, and supports students throughout the enrollment process. With a strong focus on proactive phone outreach and personalized communication, the position builds relationships with prospective, admitted, and enrolled students. The Enrollment Counselor provides high-touch support to online and graduate students from inquiry through enrollment and registration, identifying barriers and connecting students with appropriate resources. The position also supports persistence by monitoring future-term registration and proactively engaging students who need additional assistance. Working collaboratively with Admissions, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, and other campus partners, the Enrollment Counselor contributes to recruitment, enrollment, and persistence goals.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage assigned recruitment populations, territories, programs, markets and work toward established inquiry, application, admission, deposit, enrollment, and other enrollment goals.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies for online and graduate programs, with targeted outreach to adult learners, working professionals, professional sectors, and other identified markets.
- Use enrollment data, recruitment trends, and market intelligence to inform outreach and recruitment strategies.
- Conduct proactive outreach through phone calls, email, text messaging, virtual meetings, in-person meetings, and other communication channels.
- Represent Catawba College at transfer and graduate fairs, professional and community events, virtual programs, information sessions, webinars, and other recruitment activities.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, families, employers, professional organizations, community partners, school counselors, and other external constituents as appropriate.
Student Recruitment & Admissions
- Counsel prospective students and applicants throughout the admissions and enrollment process, providing personalized, timely communication and exceptional customer service.
- Conduct proactive outbound phone outreach and follow-up with prospective, applicant, admitted, and deposited students to encourage engagement and progression toward enrollment.

- Lead online and graduate admissions information sessions, webinars, presentations, campus visit programs, recruitment events, and other enrollment initiatives.
- Support daily enrollment operations, including prospective student inquiries, virtual appointments, student follow-up, and other assigned activities.
- Collaborate with Enrollment Operations, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, Academic Advising/Student Success, Student Accounts, Athletics, Student Affairs, and other campus partners to support recruitment, enrollment, and persistence.
- Contribute recruitment insights, enrollment trends, student feedback, market intelligence, and best practices to support continuous improvement.
- Participate in departmental planning and initiatives designed to improve the online and graduate student experience.

Position Summary
The Environmental Interpreter & Storytelling Specialist serves as the primary storyteller and environmental communicator for the Center for the Environment at Catawba College. This position advances the College’s mission of environmental stewardship, regenerative education, sustainability, climate action, and Piedmont ecology conservation by translating complex environmental concepts into compelling, accessible, and inspiring narratives. Through environmental interpretation, strategic communications, educational programming, and multimedia storytelling, this role helps connect students, faculty, visitors, and community members to Catawba College’s innovative environmental initiatives and leadership. The position plays a key role in enhancing public understanding, engagement, and support for the Center for the Environment while strengthening the institution’s visibility and reputation at the local, regional, and national levels.
Primary Responsibilities
Environmental Interpretation Strategy & Program Development
The Environmental Interpreter & Storytelling Specialist develops and implements comprehensive environmental interpretation strategies that communicate the significance of Catawba College’s environmental education, sustainability initiatives, regenerative education model, climate leadership, and conservation efforts.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental interpretation strategy that highlights institutional environmental initiatives and accomplishments.
- Support the design and delivery of environmental education programs that connect audiences with Piedmont ecosystems, sustainability practices, and climate solutions.
- Create engaging interpretive experiences that foster environmental awareness, stewardship, and community engagement.
- Evaluate and assess interpretive programs and educational initiatives to measure effectiveness and audience impact.
- Recommend and implement improvements based on assessment findings and participant feedback.

Storytelling, Communications & Content Development
The Environmental Interpreter & Storytelling Specialist leads storytelling and communication efforts that translate environmental and sustainability initiatives into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Develop written content including articles, feature stories, educational narratives, blog posts, and institutional communications.
- Write and manage engaging social media content that promotes environmental initiatives, educational opportunities, and community engagement.
- Translate complex environmental, sustainability, and climate-related concepts into accessible and inspiring stories.
- Create content for institutional publications, websites, newsletters, and external communications.
- Support strategic communication efforts that elevate the visibility and reputation of the Center for the Environment.
Interpretive Media, Exhibits & Educational Materials
The Environmental Interpreter & Storytelling Specialist develops innovative interpretive resources and educational materials that enhance learning and engagement across campus and within the broader community.
- Create and coordinate interpretive materials, including physical and digital signage, exhibits, installations, and educational displays.
- Support the development of printed and online educational resources that support environmental learning and outreach goals.
- Collaborate with campus partners to design engaging visitor experiences and interpretive environments.

Multimedia Storytelling & Public Engagement

Qualifications

JOB OVERVIEW:
Catawba College (“Catawba”) seeks a Registered Nurse (preferred) to effectively oversee the daily operations of the Proctor Health Center. The Health Center Manager will participate in all aspects of the operation of the Proctor Student Health Center including providing health care and health education to the Catawba College community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations Management & Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day health center operations, including coordinating with provider schedules to ensure adequate coverage is present in the Health Center. To include but not limited to the following duties:
- Provides primary medical care to the student community and responds to the basic health needs of students.
- Prepares for and responds to on campus medical crisis or emergencies; provides health and wellness advising.
- Interacts with health care agencies and professionals as necessary; maintains resources of area health care providers and other medical resources and emergency services information.
- Coordinates the College’s blood drives and health fairs, and health and wellness programs/events as directed.
- Ensure efficient use of resources, facilities, and medical equipment/supplies
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve service quality within the Health Services Center and greater Student Affairs Division.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
- Coordinates the College’s Immunization process in collaboration with the Registrar’s office.
- Ensure all students have met the requirements of admission to the College regarding the submission of all health certification and immunization forms mandated by North Carolina Law.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPPA.
- Monitor safety protocols and infection control procedures within the Student Health Center.
Budgeting & Financial Oversight
- Implement and manage the Student Health Center budget.
- Monitor expenditures and billing processes for incoming expenses and contracts.
Student Health & Wellness Programs
- Coordinate health education initiatives including health education outreach, vaccination drives, and other wellness campaigns
- Collaborate with campus departments to promote mental and physical health and wellness.
- Respond to public health concerns and emergencies on campus as directed by the local Health Department.
Collaboration & Communication
- Foster a collaborative, student-centered, trauma-informed work environment

The A/V Administrator is responsible for the operation, support, and continuous improvement of audio-visual technology environments across campus. This includes classrooms, conference rooms, event spaces, athletic venues and other learning environments.
This role serves as the primary technical resource for audiovisual (A/V) systems and classroom technologies, ensuring reliable and seamless technology experiences that support academic instruction and college operations. The position partners closely with faculty, staff, and students to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and promote effective use of instructional technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as a primary support resource for instructional technology and A/V systems across campus
- Configure, maintain, and support classroom, event, and conference room technologies, including displays, control systems, audio systems, digital signage and related A/V equipment.
- Monitor A/V systems and provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues impacting instructional and event spaces to ensure continuity of operations
- Respond to tickets and classroom support requests in a timely manner
- Assist with the design and implementation of technology solutions for classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and campus event spaces

JOB OBJECTIVE: To ensure the safety of all people and property on the Catawba College campus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and follow all campus security, safety, and emergency procedures
- Maintain familiarity and a positive working relationship with all members of the campus community
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all emergency services to include fire, police, and rescue
- Notify the Director of Public Safety and designated Catawba administrators of emergency situations occurring on or near campus
- Act as on the scene liaison between the Catawba and city/county emergency services
- Review, understand, and pass information pertinent to department daily operations via the daily shift log and shift change briefings
- Respond to all calls for service, assistance, and emergencies and provide escort as needed
- Responsible for locking and unlocking buildings in a timely manner
- Provide regular and frequent foot patrols of the interior and exterior of campus buildings and monitor all campus grounds and roadways. Make mobile patrols of campus as needed
- Responsible for completion of all incident reports, daily log entries, and/or any other written information pertaining to events occurring during the officer’s shift
- Monitor all campus parking areas and enforce traffic and parking regulations as needed
- Enforce Catawba policies, regulations, and procedures. Assist and participate in judicial hearings as needed

Customer Service & Student Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students, families, faculty, and staff regarding student account questions by phone, email, and in person.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by providing accurate, timely, and courteous assistance while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Respond to student, family, and campus partner inquiries within one business day (24 hours), providing timely updates when additional research or resolution is required.
