The Accountant will be responsible for general ledger and balance sheet review, journal entries, account reconciliations, audit support, and special projects. The chosen candidate will serve as a backup for student accounts and accounts payable. This role reports directly to the Controller.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position include but are not limited to, the following:
- Review, analyze, and reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and Catawba policies. Focus on payroll, banking, cash and other balance sheet items.
- Research outstanding items and work with various Catawba departments to adjust entries as needed.
- Prepare adjusting entries, supporting schedules, and other related analysis in readiness for month-end close and the annual financial statement audit
- Prepare quarterly tax, grant and external reporting with Controller
- Review workflow management systems with Controller for future purchases
- Provide weekly Accounts Payable check distribution assistance and reconciliations of payroll general ledgers with bank statements, including the processing of voided checks.
- Cross-train for and serve as back up for other aspects of accounting within the Catawba Finance Office, including student accounts, payroll, and accounts payable
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- A minimum of three (3) years in progressive accounting experience required
- Master’s Degree in relevant field or CPA preferred
- Advanced level Excel skills preferred—intermediate level required
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated individual with effective time-management skills required
- Ability to communicate with all levels within the College and to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, faculty, administration, students, and other internal and external constituents
- Experience with Ellucian Banner (ERP) preferred but not required

Territory management will require: responsibility for meeting specific recruitment goals, performance of market research for given territory, execution of recruitment travel via high school visits and college fairs, establishing rapport with school counselors and other key school and community leaders,
- Build relationships and share the Catawba College story with prospective students (and their families) throughout the admissions funnel via in person and virtual meetings and all forms of communication- phone, email, text message, and handwritten
- Document interactions, maintain accurate records, and execute processes via customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Evaluate and execute initial admissions decisions using sound judgement and respect while maintaining confidentiality
- Lead daily information sessions to introduce visitors to Catawba College, share points of distinction, explain admissions process, and further prospective interest in the College.
- Participate in Admissions Events throughout the year: Open Houses, Scholarship Programs, Accepted Student Days, Welcome Weekend, Orientation, Summer Sips, etc.
- Responsible for completing general office duties including but not limited to: covering admissions/financial aid visits, conducting campus tours when needed, serving as Counselor of the Day (COD), receiving inbound calls, responding to emails, and other tasks

Reporting Supervisor: Director of Online and Graduate Admissions
Position Objectives: The Admissions Counselor for Online and Graduate Programs will engage with prospective students to drive enrollment for online and graduate degree programs at Catawba College.

Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine
Catawba College (“Catawba”) Athletics seeks candidates to serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position primarily serving the Men’s Basketball Team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and deliver comprehensive athletic training services to Catawba student-athletes
- Evaluate and treat student-athlete injuries occurring at practices, games, and other Catawba athletic activities
- In coordination with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, design and supervise rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
- Administer athletic training operations as assigned and work with team physicians
- Attend assigned team(s) practices and games
- Travel with assigned team(s) travel, which will include some holidays and weekends
- Work primarily with the Men's Basketball Teams and will assist with secondary sports as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in athletic training or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
- Candidate must be nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC)
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required
- Licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of North Carolina required
- Candidate must possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently with multiple team assignments
- At least three (3) years of intercollegiate athletic training experience preferred

Catawba College (“Catawba”) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track eligible position in Physics and Sustainable Materials Science at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August 1, 2023. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Catawba College is developing a focus on sustainable materials and innovation. The primary responsibilities of the position will include teaching General Physics and associated labs and upper-level courses within their specialty. In addition, the candidate is also expected to establish an innovative research program involving undergraduate Chemistry majors. Science faculty are supported through state-of-the-art facilities, a broad range of research instrumentation, and potential for professional development opportunities.
Catawba College endeavors to offer the nation’s premier undergraduate education in environmental studies, where the study and practice of environmental stewardship and sustainability are infused throughout the curriculum. This position is part of a series of planned hires of faculty in different disciplines that collaborate and model for all learners the use of interdisciplinary approaches to addressing important questions in environmental stewardship and sustainability.
The position presents a unique opportunity for a materials scientist who is committed to undergraduate teaching in a learning environment that values the personal formation of students, the exploration of vocation, and interaction with faculty and students who routinely work across varied disciplines. The position provides occasions to teach in first-year seminars and the honors program. The candidate must value the ethos and rhythm of small-college life.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a 4-4 course assignment during a traditional two-semester academic year, including courses for majors and non-majors; opportunities for teaching online classes, including Winter Term and Summer Sessions, are available.
- Teach lecture and laboratories for General Physics
- Maintain office hours and provide academic advising and mentorship for students, both majors and non-majors
- Support recruitment of students in the natural sciences.
- Assist in curriculum development, assessment, and review
- Engage in service, such as faculty governance committee membership and involvement in college and community life

- PhD in physics or closely related field (or completion of degree within the first academic year)

This faculty position presents a unique opportunity for a professor of religious studies who is committed to undergraduate teaching in a learning environment that values the personal formation of students, the exploration of vocation, the central role of religion in liberal education, and interaction with faculty and students who routinely work across varied disciplines. The ideal candidate will have expertise in any of the various fields encompassed by religious studies, and will thrive in an institution, founded in Christian faith, which welcomes students from all faiths or no faith. The position provides occasions to teach in first-year seminars and the honors program. The candidate must value the ethos and rhythm of small-college life. Individuals with expertise in or the ability to teach courses related to nature/environment and faith are encouraged to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach a 4-4 course assignment during a traditional two-semester academic year, including courses for majors and non-majors (e.g., New Testament Introduction, Introduction to Religion, Near and Far Eastern Religions). Opportunities for teaching online classes, including Winter Term and Summer Sessions, are available.
- Teach annually (as needed) in the Pursuit, the College’s humanities-based program
- Maintain office hours and provide academic advising and mentorship for students, both majors and non-majors
- Support recruitment of students for the Religion and Philosophy B.A., and minors in religion and in philosophy
- Assist in curriculum development, assessment, and review
- Engage in service, including faculty governance committee membership and involvement in college and community life
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

- PhD in one of the multiple fields encompassed by religious studies (or completion of degree within the first academic year)

The Professor Practitioner position requires broad knowledge to teach courses in the following areas: songwriting, copyright, music publishing, digital music distribution, music promotion and marketing, artist management, audio recording, and other related popular music subjects. In addition, the successful candidate will direct popular music ensembles which require an appropriate level of musicianship, and the ability to teach and arrange music using industry standard chord charts. Other duties include advising music majors and supervising internships and practicums. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to provide an excellent learning environment for students to gain real-world knowledge for success in the music industry. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least five years of related experience in the Music Industry.
