One of my favorite things about working here, is that there is no gate keeping. If students want to try something, Catawba is the safest place for them to explore the vast openness of knowledge acquisition.

Nicholas Fuqua is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre here at Catawba. He is on a joint appointment in both the theatre and music departments. He teaches voice lessons, string lessons, and musical theatre performance. He also musically directs the theatre performances.

When asked why he chose Catawba, he said, “Catawba is just like my undergraduate program, Siena Heights University, a liberal arts college up in Michigan. I thrived at a small liberal arts university, and I felt like I would have gotten lost if I was at a huge public school like U of M or MSU. Siena Heights is just like Catawba, opportunities are endless!”

“Some of the things I love about Catawba are how much it reminds me of my undergrad. I also love how the students engage with so many disciplines of study.”

“One of my most outstanding achievements here for Catawba is getting Miki Abraham to visit and work with our students here on campus before making her Broadway Debut in the new musical "Shucked". I've also loved being able to play my viola for the Lessons and Carols service on campus.”
