Representatives from N.C. State University's Master of Accountancy program were on campus recently to speak to Catawba's aspiring accountants about their graduate program. The presentation was held in the Tom Smith Auditorium of Ketner Hall on October 8.

Several Catawba students in recent years have embraced this opportunity, including 2009 Catawba accounting graduate Savanna Farris who is currently enrolled in the program at NCSU. Farris spoke about her experiences during the presentation.

The NCSU Master of Accounting (M. Acc) program is nationally ranked currently as one of the top 30 schools in the country for the program. Due to the program's superior quality and its CPA review resources, its graduates consistently pass the CPA exam with high rates. Recent graduates from the program have accepted jobs with the Big Four profession service firms, a number of local/regional firms, and major corporations in a variety of industries.

NCSU's program success is due to its award-winning faculty, who teach a progressive curriculum that offers students the opportunity to earn either an Information Technology or Enterprise Risk Management concentration. The faculty also give the students the opportunity to experience study abroad programs.

NCSU offers merit-based M. Acc fellowships and scholarships. The recipients of financial awards are selected based on their criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, experience, presence and integrity. Students interested in receiving these financial incentives need to submit their applications no later than February 1, 2010.
