What happens when holy matrimony becomes anything but? Come find the answer in Catawba College's production of "Fatal Matrimony," presented at 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, and Wednesday, February 9, and at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, February 10–12 in Hedrick Little Theatre on campus.
Directed by Dr. Kurt Corriher, Professor of Theatre Arts, "Fatal Matrimony" is a collection of two one-act plays: "Recklessness," by Eugene O'Neil, and "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell. "Recklessness" tells the tale of a wife, stuck in a marriage where she forever places second after her husband's beloved automobiles. When she's caught in the midst of an affair, the consequences could prove deadly. "Trifles" presents the investigation into a murder that will either set a wife free or condemn her to death. But is she truly guilty? And is murder ever justified? Both "Recklessness" and "Trifles" encourage the viewers to take a look at their own sense of morality, what they consider "right," and what they might do when pushed to the edge.
