Catawba College has announced the first two of four information sessions to help students affected by the nationwide closure of the for-profit ITT Technical Institute. As a regionally accredited, non-profit, four-year college, Catawba College is committed to serving a broad range of students. This initial phase of the plan will help adult students pursuing a business management degree or information systems degree. Other degree program details are being developed.

The first information session will be held Monday, September 19, from 11AM to 5PM, at Jocks & Jills (4109 Southstream Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28217), located in the same parking lot as the former ITT South facility. Interested students can enjoy light refreshments as transfer and financial aid options are explored.

The second information session will be held Tuesday, September 20, from 2PM to 6PM, at Cafeccino (2706 W Mallard Creek Church Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262), located across the street from the former ITT North facility. Interested students can enjoy a coffee or latte as transfer and financial aid options are explored.

"We know these students are already familiar with where they were attending school, so we felt it was important to go them. There was no reason to make them learn a new address or come to a different part of town. Both locations will allow a relaxed environment in an otherwise high stress time," said Dr. Jeffrey Bowe, Director of the School of Evening & Graduate Studies at Catawba College. "We are primarily focused on business and information systems students but are also open to talking to nursing students, as well as any student who ultimately wants to earn a four-year degree."

A special 50% tuition discount to the School of Evening and Graduate Studies is available to anyone enrolled in ITT Technical Institute at any time during the past 12 months. The discounts is offered to help offset the burdens placed on students by the loss of time and transfer credit hours.

The School of Evening and Graduate Studies at Catawba College offers a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in management, information systems, and professional accounting. Courses are offered primarily in a hybrid environment with online options for some courses. Classes meet one time per week in the evening, allowing the busy working adult more flexibility to balance personal life with education. Courses are offered in a block format with students typically taking one course per month, with the next start date of October 5. A range of financial aid is available and will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Interested students should contact Dr. Jeffrey Bowe at (704) 202-1720 any day of the week or by e-mail at ittstudents@catawba.edu.
