Catawba Theatre Arts Students Head to Theatre Festival

Sixteen Catawba College Theatre Arts students will travel to Statesboro, Ga., to participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region IV slated Feb. 8-11. While there, they will be sharing, collaborating, and competing with other students from around the Southeast.

The Catawba students and their planned categories of competition at the KCACTF include:

Summer Eubanks – Costume Design for “Exit the King” and “How I Learned to Drive”;

Collette Simkins – Dramaturgy for “Reefer Madness”;

Trey Irby – Directing for “Exit the King,” and he will be directing as part of the Ten-Minute Play Festival;

Ada Rosado Valdez – Stage Management for “Exit the King”;

Linda Hughes – Stage Management for “How I Learned to Drive”;

Katelyn Long – Directing for “How I Learned to Drive,” and Katelyn was accepted into the Stage Directors and Choreographers Fellowship program and will be presenting a scene she directed from “Love and Information” by Carol Churchill with the following Catawba actors: Maddy Auchter, Collette Simkins, Randy Stull, Darren Vance, and Nicky Vassello

The following four Catawba students were nominated for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, and will be competing alongside their partners for this prestigious award at KCACTF:

Maddy Auchter, and her partner Randy Stull; Amy Kimbrough, and her partner Darren Vance;

Kayla Guffey, and her partner Sara Falso; and Prentice Clark, and her partner Anna Kate Hall.
