"Waiting for Lefty," Clifford Odets' riveting political drama, will be the student-led Blue Masque production offered by the Catawba Theatre Arts Department beginning October 21st.

Directed by senior theatre major, Melissa Tarduno of Indian Trail, "Waiting for Lefty" is set in New York in the 1930s in the midst of the Great Depression.  The setting alone casts striking resemblances to modern times. A labor strike is in the works, threatening to derail the capitalist agenda. In our current politically charged society, this highly relevant show begs the question: "What are we waiting for?"

The production stars Linda Hughes from Gainesville, Fla.; Chaz Cable from Weaverville; Summer Eubanks from Panama City, Fla.; Mark Highsmith from Asheville; Darren Vance from Long Beach, Calif.; Larissa Garcia from San Diego, Calif.; Genesis Soto from Charlotte; Tyler Adams from Sanford; Caroline Kirk from Ipswich, Mass.; Alex Donato from Staunton, Va.; and Tabitha Bass from Mebane.  Set design is provided by student designer, Morgan Summers of Gastonia, while costume design is the work of student designer, Kassandra Tuttle of Arden, and lighting design is at the hand of student George Glass of Concord.

Performances run at 7:30 p.m. October 21-22 & 24 and at 2:30 p.m. October 25 in the Florence Busby Corriher Theatre. Student tickets are $4 and adult tickets are $5.
