Catawba College Students Participate, Win Awards at Statewide Vocal Event

Reshaud Brown performs his version of "Because You Loved Me" on the Honors Recital for category winners

Catawba College Music and Theatre Arts voice students participated in the North Carolina National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions at Meredith College in Raleigh on Friday, November 2. Over 140 students from across North Carolina participated in this event which offers students the opportunity to win awards and gather feedback from adjudicators. 

Senior Popular Music major Reshaud Brown won 1st place in the men's Contemporary Commercial Music category. Dustin Chapman and Tristan Bland were awarded 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the same category, while Lisette Rodriguez placed 3rd in the women's Contemporary Commercial Music category. Jessica Yates earned regional qualification in the women's Third Year Musical Theatre category.

Other Catawba students participating in the auditions included: Rachael Allen, Delphia Borden, Alana Cooper, Jillian Dunn, Destiny Hunter, Alison Larson, Lisette Rodriguez, Nicky Vasello, Amber Wright, Grace Yacobowsky, Nunna Noe, Elizabeth Lackey, and Sarah Rasey. Jacob Hahn and Susan Trivette served as collaborative pianists for the students.
