Last spring, Amanda Bosch, an Assistant Professor of Education and Director of the Curriculum Materials Center at Catawba College, collaborated with the Rowan Public Library to write an LSTA grant for $50,000.  That grant which was funded allowed Catawba education students the opportunity to present makerspace tools to the local community in the Rowan Public Library COop Lab.

Three makerspace events were scheduled during the fall semester, one in September, October and one slated on Monday, November 13 from 6-7 p.m. at the Rowan Public Library, and three more are planned for spring. At these events, participants learn about free apps available for download on their iPads, how to make movies, play music and 3-D print their own designs.
