Catawba alumnus Paul Ken Clifton has been selected as one of five finalists among the 58 North Carolina community colleges for the 2013 Excellence in Teaching Award.

Clifton received the Outstanding Excellence in Teaching Award at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, where he is an instructor for Computer Information Technology. By receiving this honor, Clifton was designated the college's nominee for the 2012 North Carolina Community College System's R.J. Reynolds Excellence in Teaching Award.

Clifton holds a bachelor's degree from Catawba College and a master's degree in electronic commerce from the University of Maryland. Clifton and his wife, Katherine, reside in Salisbury.
