Governor McCrory presents the award to Fouts

Catawba College alumnus George Fouts '69, Interim President of the N.C. Community College System, was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by N.C. Governor and fellow Catawba alumnus Pat McCrory '78.

Fouts has a long history of service with the community college system and came out of retirement to undertake the role of Interim Presidents from September 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

Fouts brings more than 40 years of experience working within the North Carolina Community College System, serving in many leadership roles including as Executive Vice President of Guilford Technical Community College, interim president at Mayland and Roanoke-Chowan community colleges, as well as integral roles in the System's student success initiatives. Fouts was also the 2015 recipient of the I.E. Ready Award, the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the State Board of Community Colleges.
