Dennis Reed of Charlotte, 2006 graduate of Catawba College, has been selected by the America's Got Talent judges along with his troupe, Inspire the Fire (ITF),  to move on from Las Vegas to the next round of competition in New York.

Reed, who majored in Music Business, was the first place winner of the BMI Foundation's 9th Annual John Lennon Scholarship Awards in 2006. In 2007, Reed was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC).

About ITF
Inspire The Fire, founded by Reed, is a non-profit organization that is committed to inspiring positive change in adolescents through faith, fun, and the arts. Through the mobilization of volunteers, ITF energizes and actively engages youth in innovative activities that cultivate educational, social and artistic development. Arts and humanities play a positive role in the lives of adults and youth. In particular, research shows that youth are able to express themselves more freely through the arts — contributing to a healthy spirit and mind. Young people engaged in the arts also tend to perform well academically and receive high marks on standardized tests.
