The AAQEP Accreditation Commission awarded the accreditation following an extensive process of institutional self-study and peer review. At its June meeting, the Commission determined that Catawba’s programs met all four AAQEP standards.
The Commission noted that Catawba prepares future educators to serve effectively in diverse learning environments, adapt to changing educational needs, and continue developing throughout their careers. The review also recognized the College’s commitment to evaluating program effectiveness, using evidence to strengthen the student experience, and collaborating with schools and community partners to support education across the P-20 education system.
“This accreditation affirms the exceptional work of our faculty, students, alumni, and school partners,” said Dr. Kim Creamer, Dean of the Goodman School of Education. “Together, they have created a preparation experience that combines strong academic foundations with meaningful classroom practice. Our graduates leave Catawba ready to lead, serve, and make a lasting difference in the lives of their students.”
The Commission also affirmed Catawba’s plans for continued improvement, including ongoing development of the College’s assessment systems and the use of educator preparation program data to benefit future educators and the communities they will serve.

National accreditation assures the quality of professional educator preparation through a nongovernmental, nonregulatory process of self-study and peer review.
