Catawba College’s Dr. Kimberly Creamer Appointed to North Carolina Principal Fellows Program Commission

Dr. Kimberly H. Creamer, Dean of the Goodman School of Education and Professor of Education at Catawba College, has been appointed to the North Carolina Principal Fellows Program Commission as the representative of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU). Dr. Creamer was appointed by Dr. A. Hope Williams, President of NCICU, and began her service on the Principal Fellows Program Commission on October 5, 2026.

The North Carolina Principal Fellows Program recruits and prepares future school leaders for principal and assistant principal roles across the state. Dr. Creamer’s appointment builds on her work at Catawba in educator preparation, clinical partnerships, scholarships, and leadership development, with particular attention to preparing teachers for the realities of the profession and supporting them as they begin their careers.

Her service on the Principal Fellows Program Commission also connects teacher preparation with another important part of that work: the leadership and school environments teachers encounter once they enter the classroom.

“Preparing excellent teachers is only one part of strengthening our schools,” Dr. Creamer said. “Those teachers need effective leaders who create school environments where educators can grow, succeed, and choose to remain in the profession. I am honored to serve on the Principal Fellows Program Commission and contribute to work that supports educators throughout their careers and, ultimately, better outcomes for students.

The Goodman School of Education prepares future educators through academic study, classroom experience, and partnerships with schools across North Carolina. Its teacher preparation programs recently earned full seven-year accreditation from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation. The School prepares candidates not only to meet the requirements for professional licensure but to become reflective practitioners equipped with the knowledge and strategies to thrive in the teaching profession and positively impact the students and communities they serve.
