Saudamini Perinchery, M.S.Ed., NCC
Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Saudamini Perinchery is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a nationally certified counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors and a practicing mental health counselor in North Carolina. Saudamini’s scholarly interests center on integrating humanistic, creative, and trauma-informed approaches in counselor education research and clinical practice; more specifically on displaced populations, and children and adolescents. Her recent collaborative research explores mindfulness and movement-based interventions for addressing racial trauma, as well as strategies to promote resilience and wellness among refugee children and adolescents. Saudamini’s teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning and cultural humility with a commitment to fostering inclusive and developmentally supportive learning environments. She has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, while also providing clinical supervision to counseling students during their practicum and internship experiences. Saudamini’s doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision is from Virginia Tech, where she also holds a cognate in Evidence-Based Pedagogical Practices in Counselor Education. She earned her M.S.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate of graduate study in Trauma-Informed Counseling from Northern Illinois University, and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Outside of work, Saudamini likes spending quality time with her loved ones, nurturing plants, travelling, watching movies, and experimenting with new recipes!
