This year’s event welcomed 25 teams and 100 students with their teachers representing North Rowan, South Rowan, East Rowan, West Rowan, Salisbury High School, Carson High School, and Faith Academy. Students spent the day working in teams to develop creative solutions, applying critical thinking, business strategy, and technical skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
After an exciting day of competition, the top honors were awarded to teams from Carson High School:
- 1st Place: Carson 1 Team-Colson Pless -Ethan Tran - Tanner Lahrmer - Levi Lynch
- 2nd Place: Carson 2 Team-Caden Hawkins - Mason Starnes - Jackson Coody -Jackman Dang
- 3rd Place: Carson 3 Team -Gentry Yarbrough - Landon Patterson - Ty Nicholson-Minton
“The Hackathon continues to be a powerful example of experiential learning, giving students the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges while building teamwork and innovation skills,” said Ketner School of Business Dean Imran Chowdhury.
A special thank you is extended to the many Catawba College students who served as mentors throughout the day, providing guidance and encouragement to participants. Their leadership played a vital role in the success of the event. The Ketner School of Business also recognizes the outstanding efforts of faculty and staff who made the event possible, including Dr. Sharon Sullivan, Dr. Kathy Baker, Dr. Pam Thompson, Dr. Christine Lynn, and Dr. Gerard De Leoz, whose dedication and organization ensured a seamless and impactful experience for all involved.
The annual Hackathon continues to strengthen connections between Catawba College and local high schools while inspiring the next generation of business leaders and innovators.
