Jorge Caballero is originally from Alcalá de Henares, Spain. He is currently a part-time faculty member with the Department of Modern Foreign Languages at Catawba, while also serving as a full-time instructor of Spanish Language and Culture locally.
He enjoys sharing his love of Spanish with students through creative application in the classroom. He has found a way to effectively blend the technicalities of teaching grammatical and linguistic knowledge with diverse, student-centered approaches that advance pedagogical standards while simultaneously fostering an enriching and fun, culture-infused atmosphere.
Outside of the classroom, Jorge enjoys spending time in nature - with particular dedication to the sport of rock climbing. He is also an avid table-top gamer and excellent cook of Spanish cuisine. He enjoys these hobbies with his family, taking much pride in his two young children, Montaña and Río.
He can often be found traveling back to Spain to reconnect with his roots, as well as visiting other places where his appreciation of global perspectives and cultural exploration take him. If you get the chance to have a class with Caballero, you’ll definitely gain perspective and appreciation for the richness of Hispanic culture, while simultaneously becoming more comfortable with the diversity that exists within the Spanish language.
