a special message from sga president TJ Olsen
Thank you for taking the time to complete the application process for the Student Government Academic Scholarship.
About the Scholarship
Students receiving a scholarship from the SGA will use this money towards an academic conference in which their work will be presented, or the conference will build their repertoire. The SGA will be putting aside a portion of their budget each year to be spent on scholarships. We will award roughly 15 scholarships every semester. The maximum amount a student can receive each academic year is $250. You may apply in the fall and in the spring if you received a scholarship less than $250 and you desire to receive the remaining money for a different conference. It is also possible for a student to apply for multiple conferences at the same time if the amounting sum is $250 or less. Please contact DJ Colson or TJ Olsen if you have any further questions.
If your scholarship application is approved, you will be required to submit the following forms to DJ Colson:
Your Faculty Sponsor
It is necessary for you to have a faculty sponsor to complete your application and verify your attendance. This does not mean the faculty member must attend, but they will need to see proof of participation. You are responsible for making sure the faculty sponsor has filled out the Attendance Verification Form, whereas you are responsible for the student portion below.
If you are attending multiple conferences and looking for compensation, please fill out multiple applications. You may use the same answers given for questions one and two on each application. You will not be required to find multiple faculty sponsors, but you may feel it necessary.
The deadline to apply for the fall semester is October 10.
The deadline to apply for the spring semester is January 23.
On behalf of the SGA, I wish you the best of luck!
