THE DIAMOND LEGACY OF CATAWBA BASEBALL

Catawba Baseball has long been king of campus, as America’s game, it was the first organized team sport adopted by Catawba.

In fact, it was so popular, Newman Park was one of the first things built when Catawba College moved to Salisbury in 1925.

Coaches like Gordon Kirkland, Earl Ruth, Harvey Stratton, and now Jim Gantt have etched their names into the dugout walls through decades of championship-caliber play. More than a ballpark, this field has been both a proving ground for future pros and a sanctuary for local kids to dream.
