    Our Purpose

    The Catawba College Writing Center provides free, one-to-one tutoring to all Catawba students who are working on writing projects. Our undergraduate peer tutors work with writers of all abilities and at every stage of the writing process.

    • Don't know where to start? We can help!
    • Stuck somewhere in the middle? We can help!
    • Want to make sure your paper is polished an ready to turn in? We can help with that, too!

    InfoWhat Students Have Said about the Writing Center

    The Writing Center's primary goal is to help students become better writers. Thus, while tutors will offer feedback and strategies to help students improve their writing, students will do the writing and revising themselves.

    • signing up in ADM 211
    • by calling (704) 645-4819

    Students who "walk in" may work with a tutor if there are no scheduled appointments.

    Appointment are scheduled for 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on the length of your paper. When you come for an appointment, bring a copy of the assignment and any notes or drafts that you have written.

    Tutoring in the Writing Center
    The hours are as follows:

    • DAYTIME/WEEKDAYS (Hedrick Administration 211):
      • Monday: 1-4pm
      • Tuesday: 1-4pm
      • Wednesday: 2-4pm
      • Thursday: 1-3pm
      • Friday: 1-4pm

    • EVENING/WEEKEND (Corriher-Linn-Black Library Study Room 5):
      • Sunday: 7-10pm
      • Monday: 7-10pm
      • Tuesday: 7-10pm
      • Wednesday: 7-10pm
      • Thursday: 7-10pm

      The Writing Center is closed on Saturday. The Writing Center will also be closed during Fall Break and over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
