The Writing Center
Our Purpose
The Catawba College Writing Center provides free, one-to-one tutoring on writing projects to all Catawba students. Tutors can work with students at any stage of the writing process, from finding a topic to final revisions.
The Writing Center's primary goal is to help students improve their writing skills, so while the tutors provide advice, the students do the writing and revising. During an appointment, the tutor will work with the student on particular writing concerns the student wants to focus on, and the tutor can also give advice on other writing issues the tutor and student encounter as they look through the paper together.
You can make an appointment by signing up on the schedule posted on the door of the Writing Center (Hedrick Administration Building, Room 211), or you may walk in to meet with a tutor if an appointment time has not been reserved.
Both half-hour and hour-long appointments are available. When coming for an appointment, bring a copy of the assignment and any notes or drafts that you have written.
You can also send a draft to us online and receive feedback through e-mail.
Come to ADM 211 and see how we can help you improve your writing! SEE ALSO: Handouts »
