Curricular Programs of the Lilly Center

New Courses

In keeping with its purpose and goals, the Lilly Center will subsidize the development of a number of new courses at Catawba College, courses that explore the concept of vocation as it applies to various academic disciplines available at the college.

In addition, new courses were added within the Department of Religion and Philosophy. The college has also increased its offerings in ethics-related courses such as Religion and Philosophy 2170, "Ethics."

Modifications to Existing Courses

The Lilly Center also offers faculty stipends to aid in developing vocational components which can be integrated into existing courses. In this way students in as many disciplines as possible will be encouraged to consider seriously the idea of vocation as it applies to their particular area of interest.

Summer Internships

Specially selected students may conduct a not for profit internship with a local community service organization during the summer months. The Lilly Center provides payment for the student's services. We believe that this experience will help students identify their personal sense of vocation.
