A Unique Opportunity to Earn Your Bachelor's Degree on the Central Campus of CPCC
Through its partnership with CPCC, Catawba College's School of Evening and Graduate Studies launched its Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree program on the Central Campus of CPCC in August 2012. Our unique format allows you to enroll as a full-time student in evening classes while maintaining full-time employment.
Catawba offers the Business Administration major with a Business Management Concentration on the CPCC campus. The B.B.A. degree requires 120 semester hours, and you may transfer up to 60 semester hours from community college into the program. With 60 transfer hours you can earn the degree in two years after the completion of the A.A.S. The CPCC to Catawba Curriculum Guides outline how your CPCC credits will transfer to Catawba and which course you will need to complete your bachelor's degree. Only courses in which a student has earned a C- or better will transfer. While the guides are based on the 2011-2012 CPCC and Catawba College Catalogs, students who completed the A.A.S. degree under an earlier catalog are eligible for the program.
Students who have earned the A.A.S. degree in Business or Accounting are eligible to enroll. Students with an A.A. or A.S. degree should contact the School of Evening and Graduate Studies at Catawba to discuss eligibility for the program.
Unique Block Format
Both regular semesters, Fall and Spring, consist of four blocks; a block is four weeks long and you complete a 3 semester-hour course each block. During each block there are nine class meetings, four each on Monday and Thursday evenings (6:00-9:45pm) and one Saturday session (8:00-11:45am). Several courses are also offered online. Francisca earned her A.A.S. degree in Business Administration – International Business from CPCC in 2010. She transferred 60 hours of course credit to Catawba College and is now working on earning her B.B.A. degree.
"I chose to pursue my bachelor's degree because I feel like it is important to have one in today's world, especially to have a good job and to establish a life career. At Catawba, I was guaranteed that I would never take a class that I wouldn't need, and it's been true.
Catawba's faculty members are amazing - they remember you by name and they care about you as a person. The block format is wonderful; I could never have gone full-time each semester and work a full-time job without it. It lets you focus on each class, one at a time. I have worked really hard to obtain my bachelor's degree. I feel accomplished, and I have high hopes for the future. "
