    Center for Environment Wins N.C. Mobile CARE Award

    The Center for the Environment at Catawba College received one of four 2012 N.C. Mobile Clean Air Renewable Energy (CARE) Awards from the N.C. Solar Center/N.C. State University on April 20 at the 9th Annual Sustainable Energy Conference in Raleigh. The Center's Campaign for Clean Air was the winner in the Policy/Organization Innovation category.

    Catawba College Award Recipients Demonstrate "Just How High Their Potential Can Be"

    Catawba College President Brien Lewis had a chance to meet and learn about the achievements of some of the college's best and brightest students during his first week on the job. That opportunity came for Lewis at the college's annual Awards Convocation held April 19 in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel.

    Catawba College Cited as One of Nation's 322 Green Colleges

    Catawba College is one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the U.S.A. and Canada, according to The Princeton Review (www.PrincetonReview.com). The Salisbury, North Carolina-based college was one of 322 schools included in the third annual edition of "The Princeton Review's Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition."     Joe Oxendine '52 Honored with Catawba's Prestigious Shuford Award

    "The most important thing this college did for me was let me become a student here," Dr. Joseph B. Oxendine recalled Sunday, April 15, as he accepted Catawba College's prestigious Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service. Oxendine, a 1952 alumnus of Catawba and chancellor emeritus of UNC Pembroke, was tapped to serve as interim president of his alma mater last March while a national search was launched for Catawba's next president.

    Catawba's New President in Place

    Catawba College's new President Brien Lewis began his first day in the position April 16. His first day included meetings with campus constituencies and lunch with students in the dining hall. Catawba's Board of Trustees approved the selection of the former Vice President for University Development and Alumni Relations at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., in early March, following a recommendation by the College's Presidential Search Committee.

    University Business Magazine and Higher One Honor Catawba College for Its "Model of Efficiency"

    Catawba College is one of 16 colleges and universities nationwide recognized by University Business magazine's Models of Efficiency program, which is sponsored by Higher One, a technology and payment services company serving higher education. The Models of Efficiency program recognizes innovative approaches for streamlining higher education operations through technology or business process improvements.

    Catawba's Annual Awards Convocation is April 19

    Catawba College's annual awards convocation will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel. Held each spring, this is an opportunity for the campus community to celebrate the gifts and talents of students, and the strengths and abilities of a few faculty and staff members.

    Ralph W. Ketner Receives Top Award for Extraordinary Philanthropy to Community and Rowan Regional Medical Center

    Ralph W. Ketner was honored with the Wilson L. Smith Philanthropic Award during Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation's Annual Donor Appreciation and Recognition Dinner held on March 15, 2012. Mr. Ketner was presented with this prestigious award by Dr. Thomas K. Carlton, Jr., Board Chairman of Rowan Regional Medical Center Foundation. Among the special family and friends witnessing the presentation were son Robert Ketner and fiancée Leslie Sadler and his sister Dot Swing.
