    Join Us for Ladies Night 2012

    Ladies Night has become a fixture as part of Blue-White Weekend and this year is no exception. It will be held Friday, March 30th at 6 pm (not the usual 7 pm) in Kirkland Lobby of Goodman Gymnasium. The first portion of the evening will be ideas for home entertaining entitled "Tricks, Treats,Tastes and Tablescapes" with Tippie Miller and Linda White sharing what works best for them.

    Catawba's Athletic Training Hall of Fame to Induct Second Class on Feb. 18

    Four members will be inducted into the Catawba College Athletic Training Hall of Fame on Feb. 18. The induction of the Class of 2012 will take place between noon and 2 p.m. in Peeler Crystal Lounge of the Robertson College-Community Center on campus. The inductees are (with graduation year): Jim Bradley '86 of Mebane; John Lukowski '92 of Irmo, S.C. ; Angela Shirk Sneed '93 of Mooresville; and Jeff Tucker '90 of Jensen Beach, Fla.

    2012 Blue-White Spring Football Game Set

    The annual Blue-White Spring Football game is set for 10:00am on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Come and watch the 2012 Indian squad as they begin the road back from last season's disappointing year. A lot of young players got their first taste of Division II football last fall and will be much improved as a result.

    2012 Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

    The 2012 Class of Catawba Sports Hall of Fame Inductees has been announced. The four members of the Class of 2012 have been selected as follows: John D. Coble (d) '52 Football; Scherrie A. Dalton '98 Women's Soccer; Gregory K. Payne '98 Football and Baseball; Bill H. Wilhelm (d) '57 Baseball Coach.

    University of Pittsburg Possibilities for Catawba Alumnus and 49ers Defensive Line Coach

    (EDITOR'S NOTE: Jim Tomsula, a 1990 Catawba College alumnus and native of West Homestead, Pa., has served as defensive line coach for the 49ers since Jan. 16, 2007) by Kevin Lynch, Niner Insider Blog - A source said that 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula may interview or has already interviewed for the University of Pittsburgh's head coach position. Former coach Todd Graham left five days ago to take the job at Arizona State, after former 49ers coach Dennis Erickson was fired at ASU.

    Catawba's Homecoming Queen and King Crowned, Court Announced

    Gail Murray of Shallotte, N.C., and Kyle Hendrick of Palatka, Fla., were crowned Homecoming Queen and King for the 2011-2012 academic year during halftime of Catawba College's Homecoming football game against Wingate University on Oct. 22.

    Three Catawba College Alumni Honored with Distinguished Alumnus Awards

    Three individuals were honored as recipients of Catawba College's Distinguished Alumnus Award on Saturday, Oct. 22 at a barbecue luncheon held in Goodman Gymnasium as part of the college's Homecoming Weekend activities. The honorees included 1976 alumnus William V. 'Bill" Godley of Woodleaf, and twin brothers, 1986 alumni Benjamin "Benjy" Hamm of Louisville, Kentucky, and Bradley J. Hamm of Bloomington, Indiana.

    Fowler Family Moves Endowed Scholarship at Catawba to First Family Level

    Newton and Nancy Fowler of Concord and members of their family have made a gift to Catawba College that moves their Fowler Endowed Scholarship Fund, established in 2005, to the First Family Scholarship level. Preference for the Fowler Family First Family Scholarship will be given to a student athlete who maintains a 3.0 grade point while majoring in Education.

    The first home football game will be on Saturday, Sept. 17th at 7:00 pm against Newberry. Season Tickets were mailed on August 31 to all who have joined the Catawba Chiefs for 2011. You still have time to become a member of the Catawba Chiefs or to renew your membership. There are plenty of good seats available in Shuford Stadium and we hope you will consider joining us for an exciting year!
