Looking for a chance to see former Lacrosse teammates and enjoy some time with them? The perfect opportunity to do just that is the April 24th, 2010 Catawba College Lacrosse Reunion. It all begins at 12:30pm in Kirkland Lobby of Goodman Gymnasium. Lunch for all will be served at that time and several of you will be selected to speak to the group about your time at Catawba and your Lacrosse memories.

The 2010 Catawba College Sports Hall of Fame Weekend will feature our annual Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Salisbury on Friday, April 30th at 1pm, followed by a cookout at 5pm. There is a limit of 84 players. The Luncheon and Induction Ceremony will be Saturday, May 1st at noon in Kirkland Lobby of the Abernethy Physical Education Center. Our annual Blue-White Weekend is March 26th and 27th. Ladies Night with Chip Hester is set for Friday, March 26th at 7pm in the Michael Conference Room of the Hayes Field House. Come learn Tips, Tricks and Treats from Tippie Miller who always has fun in the kitchen. Enjoy hands-on demonstrations and take home recipes for all the foods prepared on the 26th.

Former basketball players of Catawba College Coach Sam Moir, who played between 1960 and 1994, were on campus for an informal luncheon February 13. The luncheon, hosted by the Catawba Chiefs Club, was an opportunity for the players to reconnect with their coach and to reminisce. The event was held in the Frank "Dutch" Meyer Auxiliary Gym of the Abernethy Physical Education Center on campus.

The Catawba College cheerleading squad will hold an open tryout for all new and returning students on Saturday, April 17 at 2:00pm. Anyone interested in trying out for the squad should meet new coach Katie Osteen in the Goodman Gym lobby at that time.

Thanks to a gift from the estate of Col. Louis "Ike" Alpheus Green '42 of Lexington, N.C., a new scholarship fund has been established at Catawba College. Preference for the Ike and Vicky Green Annual Scholarship Fund will be given to football players.

January's torrential rains caused major flooding from Grant's Creek onto Catawba's athletic complex, including Whitley Softball Field and Frock Fields. To get the fields in shape for play, members of Catawba's Softball Team spent most of their free time during the week of January 25 on the field, not playing, but cleaning up.

The 2010 Class to be inducted on Saturday, May 1st includes Reid Bradshaw '67 (Football and former Head Coach and AD at South Rowan HS), David Bennett (Head Football Coach here 1995-2001), Kevin Sloan '88 (Soccer) and Jowita Sokolowska '97 (Women's Basketball).
