    2012 Baccalaureate Service and Marshal's Walk

    Catawba's 2012 graduating class participated in the Baccalaureate Service and Marshal's Walk on Thursday, May 10 as part of the 2012 Commencement activities.

    New President, Former U.S. Ambassador, and Special Speakers to Figure in Catawba's May 12 Graduation Exercises

    Catawba College's new president, a Catawba alumnus who has served as a six-time U.S. Ambassador, and a Fox Network television show star will figure in the college's commencement exercises slated for Saturday, May 12 in Keppel Auditorium of the Robertson College-Community Center.

    Fourteen Catawba College Students Inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda

    Fourteen students in Catawba College's School of Evening and Graduate Studies (SEGS) program were inducted into the College's chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society during a ceremony held April 18 in Tom Smith Auditorium on campus.

    Thirteen Students Commissioned as Catawba College Junior Marshals

    Thirteen students from Catawba College's School of Evening and Graduate Studies were commissioned as Junior Marshals in an April 14 ceremony held in the Hurley Room on campus. Dean of the School of Evening and Graduate Studies, Dr. Edith Bolick, and College Marshal, Professor David Pulliam, officiated at the ceremony.

    Catawba's Education Honor Society Installs Officers, Inducts New Members

    Catawba College's Theta Phi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) education honor society installed new officers for the 2012-2013 year and inducted 25 new members in a ceremony held at 7:00 p.m. on April 3 in the Tom Smith Auditorium on campus. Faculty members from the Teacher Education Department played active roles in the ceremony.

    CPCC, Catawba College Partnership Allows CPCC Graduates to Earn Bachelor's Degree on CPCC's Central Campus

    Catawba College's School of Evening and Graduate Studies will partner with Central Piedmont Community College to offer an evening degree program that will allow CPCC graduates to earn their bachelor's degree from Catawba College on CPCC's Central Campus.

    Catawba Alumna Works to Help Others as She Was Helped

    Stephanie Bruce grew up in public housing. Now she helps people move out of it. Bruce, 45, serves as the new coordinator for the Family Self-Sufficiency program at Salisbury Housing Authority. Bruce graduated from the program herself in 2004, learning skills and saving enough money to move out of Civic Park Apartments a year later and buy her own home.

    Catawba Alumna Approved for Principal Position

    Two new and temporary administrative positions were filled Tuesday evening by the Davidson County Board of Education. At the monthly meeting, the board unanimously approved Lydia E. Mack, as the assistant principal of both Midway and Friedberg elementary schools, and retiree Max T. Cole as the temporary assistant principal of Central Davidson Middle School.

    Catawba Students and Their Professor Travel to American Shakespeare Center

    Three of Catawba’s students in the School of Evening and Graduate Studies – Crystal Hodges, Katrice Pruitt, and Colleen Smiley – traveled along with the professor of their Shakespeare class, Dr. Aaron Butler, to the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Virginia on October 8-9. The American Shakespeare Center is home to the Blackfriars Playhouse, a re-creation of an indoor theatre used in Shakespeare’s day.

    Students and a Faculty Member Welcomed to Catawba's Teacher Education Program

    Forty eight Catawba College students and one faculty member were honored in a formal pinning ceremony held in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. This event marked admission to the Teacher Education Program at Catawba College. The ceremony was sponsored by the Student North Carolina Association of Educators (SNCAE).
