Dennis Reed of Charlotte, 2006 graduate of Catawba College, has been selected by the America's Got Talent judges along with his troupe, Inspire the Fire (ITF), to move on from Las Vegas to the next round of competition in New York.

Catawba College student Christopher "Yung Citizen" Williams will have his Senior Showcase on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Hedrick Little Theatre on campus. Williams, a music business major from Charlotte, will be performing with fellow Catawba student, Jaymarr "J-Real" Williams of Stafford, Va.

The Catawba Singers and Chamber Singers will present their final concert of the year and the final concert under the direction of Justin Hazelgrove, Catawba’s director of choral music, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29 in Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on campus.

By Sarah Campbell, salisburypost.com - When Bianca Stokes started brainstorming ideas for her senior project, the Catawba College student knew she wanted to combine her love of music and talking. It didn't take her long to land on an idea that does just that.

In the April 2012 edition of "Music Alive!" two individuals — a student and a faculty member — from Catawba College's Music Department were featured in advertisements. Blakley Leonard, who will graduate May 12, 2012 from Catawba with a degree in Music and concentrations in Music Business and Popular Music, appears in an ad for Notion Music. The ad is about music notation for iPad.

"The Feather: Cat-U Radio" is now on the Internet, with some Catawba College students hosting and producing the broadcast and others performing during it. "The Feather" joins other virtual radio stations that can be tuned in via the Internet. The broadcast is recorded weekly and uploaded to the Internet. It showcases the talents of Catawba College students and provides another media outlet for students in addition to the online student newspaper...

The Catawba Singers and Chamber Singers will offer their next concert, entitled "Departures: A Tale of Two Lovers in a Time of War," at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18 in the Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on campus. This free concert program seeks to illumine and honor the sacrifices made not only by those brave men and women serving in the American armed forces around the world, but also by those men and women who remain here on the home front.

You might say that Catawba College senior, Christopher Williams of Charlotte, has the beat – and his is one that even rapper Neako wanted. For those not familiar with Neako – he is an American rapper, producer and songwriter whose debut album, "The Rubix Cube: Red Edition," was released on his own imprint, World Team Olympics, in 2007.

Can't believe college students would be interested in opera? Come witness for yourself. Hearing is believing! At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, Omwake-Dearborn Chapel will resound as Catawba College students wow with songs from various opera scenes, including Mozart's "Cosí Fan Tutte" and "The Magic Flute," Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi," and even Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess." This free performance will include several selections in English, along with Italian, French and German selections.
