    Dr. Michael Bitzer, a political science professor at Catawba College recently spoke to the Charlotte Observer about his analysis of the new legislative districts according to the voting results from the last two presidential elections compared to how the state voted.

    Bitzer found that in the 50-member Senate, 13 districts would be solidly Republican and 16 would lean Republican. He siad that only five districts would be considered true toss-ups.

    In the 120-member House, Bitzer said that Republicans could count on 33 districts and another 39 would lean Republican. There would be 12 toss-up districts. Read more...
