Catawba College celebrates National Athletic Training Month beginning March 1st, 2007. The theme for 2007 is "Quality Health Care and Wellness".

The Athletic Training Department at Catawba College is responsible for the health care needs of all 17 varsity sports. The certified athletic trainers on staff include Bob Casmus, ATC, Rob Dingle, ATC, Mike Eden, ATC, Becky Fitz, ATC, Kelly Gallagher, ATC and Sara Sonnekalb, ATC. These six individuals teach academic courses and oversee the clinical aspect of the Athletic Training Education program for the 21 students enrolled within the program. The athletic trainers are all licensed in the state of North Carolina and work under the direction and protocols as set forth by the team physician Chip Comadoll, MD. According to Athletic Director Dennis Davidson, "The athletic training staff and department provide outstanding care to our 380 student athletes and are vital to the success of our athletic teams!"
