Catawba College has been selected as one of the participants in the Learning Spaces and Technology Workshop that is being organized by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE) in collaboration with Project Kaleidoscope and with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Dr. Steve McKinzie, Catawba's library director, led a team from the College that developed the proposal. It included Joanna Jasper, chief information officer; Christopher Zink, a professor of theatre arts; Dr. Philip Acree Cavalier, assistant to the president for institutional research; and Dr. Barbara Hetrick, vice president and dean of the college. This same team will attend a March workshop in Tacoma, Washington, and begin planning for the College's library renovations, including technology needed to access and use vast amount of knowledge in the 21st Century.
