The Ledford High School Marching Band from Davidson County won the Lord Salisbury Cup during the October 7th  Lord Salisbury Marching Band Classic held at Catawba College.  Ledford obtained a 91.5 overall score out a possible 100.

The bands were categorized according to size division — smallest to largest (A; AA; AAA; and AAAA), according to the number of wind instruments in each. The major adjudicated captions are in Music Execution, Marching Execution, and General Effect. The small adjudicated captions are in Drum Major, Percussion and Colorguard/Auxiliary Units. Each size division was eligible for first or second place awards in all of the categories.

Marching bands which competed attained the following rankings:

Class A – Carson  High School from Rowan County was the first place winner in this class size, while West Iredell High School from Iredell County, finished second.  They were ranked in the following categories: Percussion: Carson, first place, and West Iredell, second; Visual Ensemble:  West Iredell, first place, and Carson, second; Drum Major: Carson, first place, and West Iredell, second; General Effect: Carson, first place, and West Iredell, second; Marching: Carson, first, and West Iredell, second; Music: Carson, first place, and West Iredell, second.

Class AA — North Stanly High School from Stanly County was the first place in this class size, while Vance High School from Charlotte-Mecklenburg finished second.  They were ranked in the following categories: Percussion: North Stanly, first place, and Vance, second; Visual Ensemble: North Stanly, first place, and Vance, second;  Drum Major: Vance, first place, and North Stanly, second; General Effect: North Stanly, first place, and Vance, second; Marching: Vance, first place, and North Stanly, second; Music: North Stanly, first place, and Vance, second.

Class AAA  —  North Rowan High School from Rowan County was the first place in this class size, while Walter M. Williams High School from Burlington finished second.  They were ranked in the following categories: Percussion: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second; Visual Ensemble: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second; Drum Major: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second; General Effect: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second; Marching: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second place; Music: North Rowan, first place, and Walter Williams, second.

Class AAAA – Ledford High School was the first place in this class size, while Porter Ridge High School from Union County finished second.  They were ranked in the following categories: Percussion: Ledford, first place, and Porter Ridge, second; Visual Ensemble, Porter Ridge, first place, and Ledford, second; Drum Major: Ledford, first, and Porter Ridge, second; General Effect: Ledford, first place, and Porter Ridge, second; Marching: Ledford, first, and Porter Ridge, second; Music: Ledford, first place, and Porter Ridge, second.
