Catawba College student Cathrine Balentine of Charlotte, a senior psychology major, and Dr. Sheila Brownlow, professor of psychology, have collaborated to produce a research paper which has been accepted for publication.

Their paper, "Does Making Salient Task Relevance to Group Affiliation Decrease the Performance of Male Athletes on Spatial Tasks?" examines whether men's performances on spatial tasks were challenged by threats to their self-confidence levels, as is the case for women's performances on the same tasks.  It will be published in Psi Chi Journal, a peer-reviewed journal for student-faculty research collaborations in psychology.
