Catawba College Establishes New Center for International Studies, Appoints Its Director
A new Center for International Studies is being established at Catawba College and Dr. Kurt Corriher has been tapped as its director, effective June 1. College President Dr. Robert Knott made the announcement at the annual President’s Circle Dinner held May 12 on campus.
Catawba College Receives Grant for Archives
Catawba College is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission of the National Archives for its archives project.
Catawba College Professor Attends Meeting in Germany
Dr. Albert E. Roberts, chair and professor of psychology at Catawba College, recently attended the ninth meeting of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics in Wetzlar, Germany.
Catawba College Trustees Meet at Annual Retreat
The College Board of Trustees learned at their annual retreat May 14-16 in Blowing Rock that a leadership team is now in place to launch an Endowment Campaign for Catawba College.
Catawba College Dean's List Announced
A total of 240 students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at Catawba College, according to Dr. Barbara Hetrick, vice president and dean of the college.
Catawba College Professor Authors and Compiles Electronic Publication
Dr. Sanford Silverburg, professor and chair of Political Science at Catawba College, is the author and compiler of the third edition of “Index to Law School Theses and Dissertations” on CD-ROM. The electronic publication should be available in June.
Catawba College’s Writer-in-Residence Publishes New Book
Dr. Janice Fuller, Catawba College’s writer-in-residence, has a new book of poetry recently published and entitled “Sex Education.” It is available locally at the Literary Bookpost.
Jacqueline C. Leonard Honored at Catawba College with Shuford Award
Jacqueline Cameron Leonard of Lexington received the Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. Award for Distinguished Service May 12 at Catawba College’s annual President’s Circle Dinner held on campus. The College hosts the event to recognize the college’s major donors and this year almost 300 people attended.

On Saturday, May 8, Ashley Quinones was not just the Catawba College student who had had a double lung transplant, she was simply one of the crowd -- one of the College’s 321 graduates who received their diplomas during two separate commencement exercises.
