Sophomore Jordan Clifton of Garner
- What was your favorite experience on this trip?
“During our stay in the Hotel Rothenburg, we went in the downstairs library and the hotel owner began to tell a group of us the history of the 500-year-old hotel. It finally hit me that I was experiencing an opportunity of a lifetime while sitting in a chair older than my country. Later, around 1 a.m., we got a private tour of a secret war tunnel four stories under the hotel. We may have been underground, but in that moment, we all felt on top of the world.”
- How has your perspective changed on this trip?
"This tour has opened my eyes to so many different perspectives of the world. It’s amazing to me that you can connect with someone who speaks a different language and lives in a different culture with music. The Catawba singers have brought laughter, tears, and joy to people with a gift we can all connect with – music.”
- What have you learned through your experiences?
“I have learned more history than I could ever learn in a classroom. Also, Lady Gaga is loved worldwide; I had an hour-long conversation about her with an elderly French woman.”
