Alumna Blog: One in Two Million at the Inauguration
entry 1
Saturday, January 17th

The Inauguration celebrations began for me on Saturday, January 17th.
I was at home watching my very own Joe Biden officially put my hometown of Wilmington, Delaware on the map. There was the Wilmington Train Station on national television awaiting President Obama. No longer would I have to explain, I am from Wilmington, Delaware, not Wilmington North Carolina. Even though I was unable to be in Wilmington that day, my parents made sure to keep me updated of all things JoeBama. This historical inauguration meant so much more to the state of Delaware. Delaware being such a small state, we all felt like we personally have a stake in Vice President Biden. For me personally, I attended school with his daughter Ashley, we played lacrosse together, and I was an intern in Senator Biden's office. It's still a bit hard for me to believe that this family I grew up knowing is now apart of history and this was just the beginning.
