H1N1 and Flu Updates

9/21/09

The Facilities Department would like to let everyone know that the housekeeping department is taking extra precautionary measures for cleaning due to the HINI virus situation. They will be spraying all dorm and locker room community showers and public restroom facilities with a highly concentrated disinfectant cleaner. It kills flu and MRSA germs within five seconds and it is a quaternary cleaner. This means that it remains on the surfaces and continues killing germs for 48 hours. They are also spraying this product on desks in the classrooms as well as wiping entrance doors to the buildings. The supervisor will be monitoring employees and will send them home if they show flu like symptoms themselves.

There will be additional monitoring of tissue and towel dispensers to make sure that bathrooms do not run out. We will be encouraging students that live in dorms with suite type bathrooms to clean their areas more frequently with a disinfectant bathroom cleaner. Disinfecting wipes have been ordered to place in computer labs for the students to use before and after using keyboards, and we have ordered hand sanitizer dispensers to place randomly in each dorm.

We welcome any ideas or input that any of you may have to help combat this potential problem.
