Hello! I'm Sarah, and am a relative newcomer to Catawba, having joined the staff in May, 2012. After growing up in Philadelphia and going to college in Massachusetts, I've finally landed in North Carolina – and I love it! The college I attended was a small, liberal arts institution, and I firmly believe that the benefits of investing in a liberal arts education are unparalleled. At Catawba, professors don't teach at students, but work collaboratively alongside them. We believe that education begins – and does not end – in the classroom. Our faculty meaningfully bridge the rigorous foundational skills of critical thinking with the career-preparation students need to excel after graduation. Through hands-on, mentor-based programs, you will not only learn about your field of study – you will be an active participant in it.

But Catawba is about much more than just academics! Our beautiful campus is home to 1000 dynamic, talented athletes, musicians, Resident Advisors, thespians, writers, volunteers, tutors, and activists. So whether you are interested in joining a band, running for a Student Government Association office, or trying out for one of our 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams, you can be certain that the rest of the Catawba community will be behind you every step of the way.
