The Lerner Wellness Center at Catawba College exists to provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff to learn about practices, conditions and habits that will contribute to their physical well-being. Recognizing that the development of healthy life-styles needs to be a life-long process, the Center offers comprehensive, medically approved programs and activities designed to help clients achieve a higher level of well-being.
Programming is goal-oriented and focuses upon tangible results. Key emphasis is placed upon sound nutrition, regular exercise, stress management and the elimination of detrimental practices and habits. The Center makes available services beneficial to persons in good health seeking to maintain a level of fitness and good health as well as those seeking rehabilitation and desiring to achieve a new level of good health.
The Lerner Wellness Center is located in the Cannon Student Center. The area houses a variety of state-of-the-art strength and conditioning equipment including Lifefitness weight machines, treadmills, cross-trainers (stair climbing units), recumbent exercise bicycles, resistance bands, medicine balls, exercise balls, dumbells (1-50 lbs. in 5-pound increments) and a variety of workout benches. In addition, the center has an aerobics space and an area for stretching and ab work.
