The Office of Public Safety exists to help ensure a safe environment for all members of the Catawba community. Officers are specifically responsible for patrolling the campus, securing buildings and property, enforcing campus motor vehicle operations and parking regulations, assisting with traffic and crowd control at campus-sponsored events, responding to calls for assistance, and providing campus-wide crime prevention education.
A Safe Environment
Ensuring a safe environment is also the responsibility of students and all members of the Catawba community. Therefore, students are asked to be certain that their own rooms and belongings are not made accessible to unauthorized persons. The majority of campus theft recorded in the past few years could have been prevented if the victims had locked their room door. Although the campus is routinely patrolled, students are asked to assist officers and to protect themselves and the community by reporting suspicious behavior to the Office of Public Safety or the Office of the Dean of Students. We can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week at (704) 637-4000.
