General Info

The Sayakini is published by Catawba College as a service to the students, faculty, staff and alumni of the college. The Sayakini is an applied journalism unit of the Communications Department.

It is distributed in the spring but is a year-round project documenting school activities. It is written, edited and produced by students and offers excellent opportunities to gain valuable experience for journalism and related careers. Participation is not limited to any course of study or classification, but is open to all interested students. Student editors, writers, photographers and other staff members can receive one hour of class credit commensurate with their duties and responsibilities but enrollment in the Sayakini class is not required for participation. For the past several years, the yearbook staff has been incorporated as part of the workstudy program.

Location: The Sayakini office has relocated to our new location! Come visit us on the first floor of the Hedrick Administration Building near the vending machines (previously the Switchboard Office).

Office Hours: While the Sayakini staff are often on assignment and away from the office we make every effort to return phone messages and e-mail within one work day. Please allow time for the staff to receive and return your messages.
