Biography
Cyndi Allison Wittum is the faculty advisor for the Catawba College student newspaper, The Pioneer. Students at the college publish once per month (Sept. – May) for 8 issues per year. Issues of the newspaper are available on request, and student writers are often willing to speak with the media or out in the community.
Wittum teaches public speaking courses and writing/journalism classes in the communication arts department. Writing classes include: Introduction to Journalism, Writing for Media, News Reporting, Feature Writing, and Travel Writing. Wittum also coordinates independent study and intern hours with students interested in advanced journalism.
Wittum taught NADSAP classes in Greece through the University of Arizona, communication classes at North Carolina State University, and communication (business and writing) classes at RCCC prior to joining Catawba.
Wittum is a professional writer with over 200 publication credits in a variety of national and international magazines including Family Fun, Grit, Army Times, and Quilt World. Wittum writes occasionally for the Salisbury Post.
