About Our Scholarships (Overview)

Availability

All scholarships and grants are dependent on availability of financial aid funds. Early application for admission to Catawba so as to qualify for scholarship consideration is encouraged.

Renewal

Scholarships have different academic expectations than federal, state and College need-based aid. Scholarships are renewable for three additional years if eligibility is maintained. Recipients should refer to their scholarship letter for standards required for renewal.

Test Scores Considered

SAT scores are used for any student applying as a freshman who has not opted into being test optional. Scores are taken into consideration based on individual student's best total scores on the Math sub-score of the SAT and Reading Comprehension sub-scores of the SAT or the ACT Composite score. Writing sub-scores from either test are not considered in making award determinations.

Multiple Scholarship Offers

First Family Scholarships are exclusive, generally replacing other awards, and may not be "stacked" on top of other awards. Qualified students will receive the largest of the awards for which they qualify.

Residential Scholarships

The amounts listed above for the First Family, Presidential and Trustee Scholarships include a $1000-$2,000 residential tuition grant for students living in College housing. Residence in College housing is required to continue receiving this grant.
