The Catawba Fund is a giving umbrella under which the following categories of support for Catawba are grouped:
- General Unrestricted giving affects the entire College and every individual in it — every program, every activity, every aspect of the institution. These funds are applied directly to current operating expenses.
- Unendowed Student Aid comprises the majority of the large financial assistance program Catawba uses to assist students in attending the College. Today 98% percent of Catawba students receive some form of financial aid — scholarships, grants, loans, workstudy.
The Giving Circles of Catawba College
Catawba places great dependence on the continuing support of her alumni and friends. The Circles of Catawba were organized during the 1969-70 academic year as a means of both recognizing and encouraging this vital continuing support. The Circles program has grown and enlarged over the years with new categories of giving created to recognize special donor interests and generosity. Gifts to the Circles may be designated for any purpose-capital projects, general endowment, scholarships, awards, memorial funds, the library, etc.
Membership in a Circle is determined by the total amount given during the fiscal year.
A great way to increase your support without costing you more is through Corporation Matching Gift Programs. Check with your Human Resources Department to see if your company offers this program.
Giving Circle Levels:
The Founder's Society honors supporters who demonstrate a commitment to Catawba College by making a gift of $5,000 or more annually.
The Sponsor's Society honors supporters who give $2,500 to $4,999 to the college annually.
The President's Circle honors donors who contribute $1,000 or more annually to the college. A major source of support for the college, The President's Circle has over 300 members.
The Patron's Circle honors supporters who make an annual gift of $500-$999 to the college.
The Heritage Circle honors supporters who make an annual gift of $250-$499 to the college.
The Century Circle, the largest gift club at Catawba, has over 1,500 members who contribute $100- $249 or more to the college annually.
The Young Catawbans' Club honors a special group of alumni who graduated within the past five years and who make a gift of $25 or more annually.
Making a gift to the Catawba Fund is a way for alumni, parents and friends of Catawba to support every aspect of Catawba — scholarship for students, books for the library, renovations and other daily operating expenses.
Alumni participation in the Catawba Fund with a gift of any size is very important. Corporations and foundations examine the rate of alumni giving when they decide which colleges will receive grants and other forms of financial support. Catawba alumni support is currently 30%.
Students will be calling alumni and parents during October and February. Please take a moment to pledge your support to the future with a gift to Catawba.
