The Hurley School of Arts and Sciences is named in honor of James F. and Gerry T. Hurley of Salisbury, N.C. Mr. Hurley is the former owner and publisher of The Salisbury Post and past chairman of the Catawba Board of Trustees. The School includes the departments of Biology, Chemistry, English, History & Politics, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Psychology, Religion & Philosophy, and Sociology. The school also administers cooperative programs in Forestry and Medical Technology and the Pre-Medicine and Pre-Health Programs.
