I chose psychology as my major to be of service to people with drug and alcohol problems within the minimum security prison system. I mainly will be working with the female population. I see both psychology and sociology as a way of having an understanding this population. I may even go further in my education and become a minister. I see a possibility of being part of the prison ministry."

"I chose psychology because I want to know what makes you do what you do. Sure, chemistry and biology and all that jazz are fun (hence my minor) but psychology is the study of why you chose chemistry or biology or whatever your major is. And not only do I get to figure out how you click, I also get to do some sweet psychological tests that you may or may not be part of.... After I graduate I plan on going to school for optometry — where I plan on doing a lot more work and having fun. So if you need your eyes checked, come see me in five years..."

"I love all of the professors in Catawba's psychology department. They are all so inviting and make classes a pleasurable experience. I have been interested in psychology since I was a young girl, and even at elementary school age I had visions of becoming a psychologist. I am not fully decided on what career I want to pursue with my major, but I am strongly considering becoming a counselor of some sort. I want to get my bachelor's degree here at Catawba and work later towards a master's degree. I think everyone should take at least one psychology course before they graduate, because even if people don't plan on majoring in the field, I think they would be astounded at how psychology topics surround us all in everyday life ... and it's just plain interesting."
