Alumni SURVEY
Profiles"I'm really interested in psychology and look forward to continuing my education after Catawba. I want to earn my PhD in psychology and, ideally, work in a Veteran's hospital." Profiles"I'm interested in psychology because I enjoy helping people. I've done it my whole life so why stop now? My goal is to work as a therapist or guidance counselor provided a music career doesn't manifest itself soon!" Profiles"I recently changed my major to Psychology, and the professors and the psychology majors have welcomed me with open arms! Psychology is my new home and I am glad it is. My major is important to my future goals: I plan to become a child, family or school social worker." Profiles"I'm Interested in Psychology because it's in my genes! In the future I wish to get to my Ph.D." ProfilesKevin's future academic goals includes earning a J.D. to become a trial attorney. Profiles"I am really interested in psychology because I'm interested in child and human development. My future goals include early childhood education." Profiles"I like psychology because it's interesting and challenging, and I can meet other goals I have here at the same time because the Department works on scheduling classes and practical experiences with me." Profiles"The psychology department is like a second family to me. The professors are always willing to help with anything and all of the students are very dedicated to their education. Because there are only a few of us in the department, I feel like I am important and that the professors are teaching to teach me." Profiles"The Psychology department at Catawba has opened multiple windows of insight towards these topics. The classes are geared towards real life experiences and uses. I know that with an education from this department I will be more than sufficiently able in the multiple uses of a psychology degree." Profiles"I love the Psychology Department here at Catawba because it feels like home. The classes are great, the professors are more than helpful, and the other students really form a close knit group. I know that I can always go to any one of my psychology professors and ask for their help or guidance and they'd be willing to help out." Profiles"I chose psychology as my major to be of service to people with drug and alcohol problems within the minimum security prison system. I see both psychology and sociology as a way of having an understanding this population." Profiles"I am interested in Psychology because I am fascinated with understanding how and why people function in every day life situations. My future goals are to attend Seminary or Divinity School to get my dual Masters in Counseling and Theology or my Masters in Divinity." Profiles"I am in psychology because I am intrigued by the way the human mind works. I want to get my PsyD or my PhD and pursue clinical psychology. I want to work in hospitals full time, and pursue a career as a mental health specialist." Profiles"I'm a volleyball player and I'm involved in lots of organizations, but I've always been interested in psychology and in particular interpreting people's behavior. I am not sure what career I will pursue but I am happy that the psychology department will lead me in the right direction." Profiles"I plan to use Psychology with the field of law. I plan to attend law school and then pursue my specific area of law as a legal- aid attorney. However if I decide to change my mind, then I would also might want to use Psychology as a criminologist. I would then need to attend graduate school in order for that to be possible." ProfilesMy courses in psychology gave me a better understanding not just of others, but of myself. By understanding the processes and behaviors that define our actions and interactions, it has become easier for me to understand and work with others. This knowledge will be of great service to me in my chosen occupation."
