Music Business

The Catawba College Music Business Concentration has been designed for those wishing to pursue "behind-the-scene" careers in the music industry. Students learn alongside classmates in the Catawba Popular Music Concentration through our innovative Artist Development Program. Music Education

The Music Education Concentration is designed to provide study and experiences to meet the music competencies expected by the State of North Carolina for K-12 music teacher licensure. In addition to the courses listed below, the Music Education student will be expected to meet departmental requirements of recital performance, ensemble participation, and attendance at certain musical recitals and performances, as well as to pass both a theory and a performance exam by the end of the sophomore year. Music Performance

The music performance concentration at Catawba College is ideal for students interested in a performance career in classical/art music, a private teaching career, and/or graduate studies in performance. Designed to allow students to focus their music studies in voice or a particular instrument with the goal of developing as a performer, our program prepares professional musicians to function as both practitioners and artists in the musically inclusive world of the 21st century who exhibit not only technical competence, but also a broad knowledge of music, and an understanding of and appreciation for the artistic process. Popular Music

The Popular Music Concentration prepares students to establish successful careers as professional performers, songwriters, engineers and/or producers in some form of contemporary popular music (rock, alternative, country jazz, gospel, urban, etc.)  Read More »

 

Sacred Music

The Sacred Music Concentration is designed to prepare the student for a career as a church musician who functions successfully as performer, administrator, choral and instrumental director, and to acquaint the student with the methods and materials needed to implement a church music program.
