Emily Schuttenberg teaches private piano, class piano, and assists with accompanying for the Catawba College Music Department. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in both Piano and Musical Theatre from Huntingdon College (Montgomery, AL), and completed her Master of Music degree at Western Carolina University. In addition to her duties with Catawba College, Emily is currently the Director of Music for Shiloh Reformed Church (Faith, NC); Adjunct Music Instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College; and Music Teacher for preschool, elementary, and middle school at Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Emily is equally adept behind the keys or acting and singing on stage. She has performed classical piano as soloist and accompanist for countless choirs and recitals. She has played piano for many community, educational, and professional theatre performances including Cats, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, andFootloose and also served as rehearsal pianist & vocal coach in opera and theatre productions. Recent stage roles include leads in Mother Divine (at the NYC Fringe Festival), Curtains (Piedmont Players), God of Carnage, and She Loves Me (Hickory, NC). As a vocalist, Emily has been cantor and soloist for various organizations, including the Knoxville Opera Chorus. Additionally, she has enjoyed teaching piano, voice, and musical theatre to all ages.
