What Makes Us Unique?
- Believing strongly that residence and travel in situ are critical for the development of advanced fluency, the department requires a minimum of 6 hours credit from an approved foreign institution. Students have broad latitude and considerable assistance in program selection.
- While literature and culture courses are required, the major program focuses principally on development of practical language skills for use in commerce, social service, law enforcement, and teaching.
- Advanced class sizes are always small and afford maximum student-faculty interaction.
- Relatively small size of major (33 semester hours) facilitates “double major” possibilities.
- The language laboratory offers live 24-hour satellite feed in French, German, Spanish, and several other languages.
- The department offers a supportive and family-like environment to its majors.
